Common Orthopedic Injuries

This presentation will review the most common sports-related injuries. Each injury will be reviewed so that learners gain a better understanding of how to diagnose and treat them to improve patient outcomes.
At the end of this lecture assessment period, the attendee should be able to:
1. Discuss clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and management for common musculoskeletal complaints of the:
a. Shoulder
b. Elbow
c. Hand/wrist
d. Hip
e. Knee
f. Ankle
g. Foot
2. Apply these learning objectives to analyze clinical case scenarios and develop patient management plans.

Osteopathic Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance. All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt. If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Council on Continuing Medical Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
Dr. Erik Zarandy is a 2012 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – North Georgia Campus (PCOM Georgia) in Suwanee, Georgia. He then completed a residency in Family Medicine and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship through AnMed Health in Anderson, South Carolina. During his time in Anderson, Dr. Zarandy provided sideline coverage for several local area high schools, Anderson University and Clemson University. He also provided medical coverage for multiple triathlons, including the collegiate triathlon national championship.
Dr. Zarandy returned to the Atlanta area in 2016 to practice family medicine for Piedmont Healthcare in Johns Creek, Covington, and Marietta, Georgia. He is one of the team physicians for the Atlanta United Football Club in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also provided sideline coverage for multiple FIFA International Friendlies and English Premier League matches. In addition, he has provided medical coverage for the PGA Tour Championship. Dr. Zarandy recently became an Assistant Professor in the PCOM North Georgia Campus Family Medicine Department. Dr. Zarandy is board certified in Family Medicine and has a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine both through the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Zarandy has a passion for teaching and looks forward to educating and working alongside our future generation of doctors.
