In this presentation, the speaker will review and introduce various technologies that have been developed to assist with the treatment of diabetes. Learners will gain an understanding of how to set up a clinic to optimize the use of technology. The current status of insurance coverage for remote monitoring and connected care and the steps involved in obtaining reimbursement for these services will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
• Define “connected care” and “remote patient monitoring” and explain their potential benefits for the treatment of people with diabetes
• Describe the types of diabetes technology and how they can be deployed to monitor individual patients and the entire patient populations
• Discuss the main steps involved in setting up a clinic to optimize the use of technology, including efficiently and effectively collecting and review data from connected devices
• Explain the current status of insurance coverage for remote monitoring and connected care and the steps involved in obtaining reimbursement for these services
