In this presentation, the speaker will discuss Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome. The history, epidemiology, and risk factors of this disorder will be reviewed. In addition, the speaker will discuss when a PCP should refer patients with Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome to a specialist.
After completion of this presentation, attendees should be able to:
• Describe the history of diagnosis of IC/BPS
• Better diagnose IC/BPS
• Describe the Epidemiology of IC/BPS
• Explain the risk factors and pathophysiology of IC/BPS
• Assess treatment options for Primary Care Providers
• Know when you should send your patients to the Urologist
• Understand and articulate to your patients what they can anticipate from the Urologist and the work-up
