Accreditation Statement: This program is co-sponsored by the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) and the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of Oregon (OPSO). Both osteopathic associations are accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

The program has been designated for a maximum of eight (8) AOA Category 1-A credits by the co-sponsors who have authorized the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons to report CME and specialty credits to the AOA commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.  

MAOPS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Dr. Edward Goering is currently serving full time as Assistant Professor of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Osteopathic Principles and Practices with Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest (COMP-NW) in Lebanon, Oregon. Currently, he is serving COMP-NW as Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine 2nd-year co-lead and is the Chair of the Admissions Committee. He also served as a Faculty Senator for five years, from 2016-2021, and on the Curriculum Committee in 2014-2015.

Dr. Goering is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Dr. Goering practiced Family Practice/Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine for 18 years, including five years as a part-time emergency room doctor for Eastmoreland Hospital with ACLS Certification. He has taught Osteopathic Manipulative Techniques over the last several (30+) years in multiple college settings and professional meetings. Over the past 30 years, he provided instruction in Strain/Counterstrain for the Jones Institute throughout the United States in all but eight states. He has spoken at several state and local osteopathic association meetings, including Oregon, California, Washington, and national meetings of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Osteopathy, 1997, 2001, and 2012. Dr. Goering presented manual medicine courses for the Japanese Osteopathic Academy in 1994, 1997, 2003, 2012, 2016 and is scheduled to present again in 2022. He is a recognized authority in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, emphasizing Jones Strain/Counterstrain.

David E. Goldman, DO, JD's Profile

Dr. Goldman is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Washington University School of Law. He later earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Goldman completed his internship at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, and his residency in Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He also completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Vanderbilt. He is the Medical Director of The Goldman Group, LLC, a multidisciplinary psychiatry/therapy group. Dr. Goldman is also the Medical Director of Mark Twain Behavioral Health in Hannibal, Missouri. Dr. Goldman serves as a Medicolegal Consultant and continues his private psychotherapy and psychopharmacology management practice. He serves as a Professor at Southern Illinois University Medical School in Springfield, Illinois, and KCOM in Kirksville, Missouri.

Dr. Goldman was the 2001 recipient of the Max Gutensohn Professor of the Year Award at KCOM and has been awarded the Order of Merlin Excalibur by the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Dr. Goldman is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He also is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American College of Legal Medicine.

Dustin Higgins, DO's Profile

Dr. Dustin Higgins was born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. He is the seventh of nine children. Dr. Higgins received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Dr. Higgins then attended medical school at Midwestern University - Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-AZCOM) in Glendale, Arizona. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and then completed his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He currently practices with the Quincy Medical Group in Quincy, Illinois, and is the only Endocrinologist in his group. Dr. Higgins is a Resident Rotation Instructor for Southern Illinois University in Quincy, Illinois. Dr. Higgins is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Higgins is on the Quality and Cost of Care Committee and chairs the Together 2 Goal Committee for the Quincy Medical Group. He is fluent in English and Spanish. He enjoys fishing and pond swimming with his wife, six boys, and newborn daughter.

Malorie Sue Howe, DO's Profile

Dr. Malorie Howe is a Missouri native who grew up in Lebanon, Missouri. She attended the University of Missouri Columbia, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Howe obtained her medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2015. She then completed her OBGYN residency at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2019. Dr. Howe is currently an OBGYN at Women's Care Obstetrics & Gynecology in Overland Park, Kansas. Dr. Howe is board certified in OBGYN by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Howe is a previous MAOPS Wetzel Scholar and is excited to be presenting at this conference. Dr. Howe enjoys traveling, attending wine tastings, and group fitness classes when not working. She believes establishing trust between a physician and patient is incredibly important, and she strives to create a unique relationship with every woman under her care.

Ben Hudson, DO's Profile

Dr. Ben Hudson is a general cardiologist for Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis, Oregon. Dr. Hudson is board certified in Internal Medicine and General Cardiology by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, he is certified in Nuclear Cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Hudson received his undergraduate degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. He graduated from the Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon. Dr. Hudson completed his internal medicine residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and his cardiology fellowship with Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis, Oregon.

He specializes in cardiovascular disease, and he sees himself as a guide who provides patients with information, options, and advice to take control of their health and cardiology as a field in which he can make a significant difference in his patient's health and well-being. In his free time, Dr. Hudson enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, camping, as well as playing and watching football.

Dr. Nakashima-Moran is a Family Medicine Physician with Esse Health in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, in 2010. He attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated in 2015. He returned to St. Louis for his residency in Family Practice at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, which he completed in 2018.

When not working, he enjoys taking and editing photographs, finding new restaurants, hunting, and spending time with his wife Brittainy and his dog Sasha. His interests include automobiles, technology, cinema and television.

Dr. Jared Nichols is an Assistant Professor of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Kansas City University - Joplin Campus in Joplin, Missouri. He serves as the year-two course director for the osteopathic skills classes, directs OMM fellows, and conducts research. Dr. Nichols also has a non-opioid pain management clinic at a local Federal Community Health Center in Joplin, Missouri. Dr. Nichols is board certified in Family Medicine and OMT by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is also board certified in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and has a certificate in Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Nichols earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 2014 from A.T. Still University - Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) in Kirksville, Missouri. Priya Nori, MD's Profile

Dr. Priya Nori is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. Dr. Nori serves as Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) and the Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy Program (OPAT). She also serves as Director of the Infectious Diseases (ID) fellowship program. Dr. Nori is a core member of the Montefiore Health System's COVID-19 task force, leading testing, infection prevention, and therapeutic protocols. She has directed the Montefiore COVID-19 Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Program since December 2020.  She is widely published in COVID-19 therapeutics and outbreak management. Dr. Nori is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Nori has been assisting the Department of Justice with COVID-19 protocols since April 2020. She is an alumna of the Johns Hopkins University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she received the American Medical Women's Association's Glasgow-Rubin Achievement Award and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She then completed her residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Nori then returned to Einstein/Montefiore for her fellowship in infectious diseases. After completing her fellowship in 2014, she stayed on as a faculty member at Einstein/Montefiore. Dr. Nori holds multiple professional society leadership roles and has received several awards. She was awarded ID fellowship "teacher of the year" in 2015, the Department of Medicine "rising star" award in 2017, and the "Sharon Silbiger Subspecialist Teacher of the Year" award in 2020.

Dr. Nori discloses that she is a promotional speaker for Regeneron and she is working on a CoPI research grant that the institution she works for received from Merck to study co-infections in COVID-19 patients. All relevant financial relationships have been mitigated.
