Learning Objectives:
•    
Learners will better grasp the components, tools, and measures necessary for a comprehensive wellness visit within the geriatric community.
•    Learners will understand the current trends in the utilization of AWV and its benefits.
•    Learners will understand how to prioritize options for preventive services, allowing for more efficient and effective management.
•    Learners will be able to convey what preventive measures are available to older adults allowing older adults a better and deeper understanding of their own treatment and expected outcomes.

Accreditation Statement: This program is co-sponsored by the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) and the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of Oregon (OPSO). Both osteopathic associations are accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

The program has been designated for a maximum of one (1) AOA Category 1-A credit(s) by the co-sponsors who have authorized the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons to report CME and specialty credits to the AOA commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.  

MAOPS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Dan Osterweil, MD, FACP, CMD Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Dan Osterweil is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He completed his fellowship in geriatrics at UCLA. Dr. Osterweil is the Emeritus-Editor of the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (JAMDA), which he founded. In 1982, Dr. Osterweil became board certified in Internal Medicine in Israel.

Dr. Osterweil co-authored two editions of Medical Care in the Nursing Home. He is the co-editor of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals. In 2022 he authored a historical novel, The Orphans' Father. His areas of expertise include cognitive and functional assessment, management of dementia, continuous quality improvement in the nursing home, and risk adjustment. Dr. Osterweil is the Director of a training program entitled "Leadership and Management in Geriatrics" (LMG) and is Associate Director of the Multi-Campus Program in Geriatrics and Gerontology at UCLA (MPGMG). He is also the Co-Director of The UCLA Intensive Course in Geriatrics and Board review. Dr. Osterweil served as a Geriatric Consultant to SCAN for ten years before joining SCAN as Vice President and Medical Director of SCAN Health Plan. Dr. Osterweil led SCAN's senior-focused HealthCHEC-Comprehensive Health Evaluation centers among his many duties at SCAN. He retired from this position at the end of 2021 but continues to serve as a Geriatric Consultant to the CMO.
