At the conclusion of this session, learners will be able to:
• Discuss and be familiar with herbal medicines patients commonly use and be able to speak knowledgeably about them
• Create a treatment plan for common primary care conditions, including herbal remedies for those patients interested in natural medicine
• Choose a herbal remedy for patients with mild symptoms or for those who are skeptical of conventional medication

The Montana Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1.5 AOA Category 1-A Credit(s) and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Amy Solomon is a Family Doctor, an Addiction Specialist and a fellow through the Osher Collaborative in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Solomon has always had a lifelong passion for medicine and began teaching herself the full spectrum of the healing arts as a youngster; self-studying botanicals, and the ancient traditions such as Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and proceeded directly to medical school at St. Louis University. She did her residency in Family Medicine at Santa Monica-UCLA.
Dr. Solomon worked in a small rural town in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California for 20 years. Initially, as part of a group and then for 10 years in her own Integrative Medical practice. During that time, she took an additional interest in Addiction Medicine. She was the Medical Director of a large 72-bed Residential Facility for Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation for six years while maintaining a full-time family practice. During that tenure, she became board certified in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Solomon went on to become the Medical Director and helped open a dual diagnosis (Mental Health and Substance use disorders) Integrative day treatment center in Santa Cruz, CA.
In 2017, she decided “it was her turn to teach” and she did a nationwide search for the right fit. She was fortunate to be hired on as a full-time core faculty member at the Montana Family Practice Residency in Billings, Montana (part of (WWAMI) and is now also an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Washington. As a faculty physician, she is able to further the education of Family Practice Residents, especially in matters of Addiction and Integrative Medicine. In 2022, in order to formalize and further her knowledge of Integrative Medicine, she joined the Osher Faculty Fellowship in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Solomon anticipates sitting for the Integrative Medicine Boards in 2024.
When Dr. Solomon is not busy with work, she loves spending time reading poetry, celebrating holidays and keeping up with all her friends and family.
