In this presentation, the presenter will give an update on the newly approved drugs for 2023. The new therapies for the treatment of common chronic diseases and the pharmacology and clinical use of select drugs will be reviewed. 

Learning Objectives:
·  
 Learners will analyze, identify, and define the indications for recently approved prescription medications.
·    Learners will analyze and assess how the newly approved drugs interact with other drugs and what their place is in therapy. 
·    Learners will assess and apply new drugs and therapies to treat their patients with chronic diseases.
·    Learners will explain key counseling points and side effects for each new medication.

Cassandra White, PharmD, BCACP, BCGP Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Cassandra White is a 2012 graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany, New York. After earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with a concentration in economics, she completed a post-graduate year-1 pharmacy practice residency at the VA Maine Healthcare System in Chelsea, Maine. Dr. White began her career in academia at Husson University, Bangor, Maine, in 2013 and was promoted to Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice in 2019.

Dr. White started her career in 2005 as a pharmacy technician. Over time, she gained experience working at various pharmacies. She is board certified as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and a Geriatric Pharmacist by the American Pharmacists Association. Dr. White is also a member of the Maine Pharmacy Association, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and American Pharmacists Association. She was on the Board of Directors for the Maine Pharmacy Association for five years and served as President from 2016 through 2019.

Dr. White is the proud recipient of multiple awards and honors.  These include the HUSOP Teaching Excellence Award for Pharmacy Practice (2020), P2 Teacher of the Year (2020), P4 Teacher of the Year (2016, 2020), National Community Pharmacists Association Pharmacy Leadership Award for Maine (2018), Distinguished Young Pharmacist for Maine (2016), HUSOP Faculty Preceptor of the Year (2016), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year (2016), and Who's Who of American Universities (2012). She represents Husson University College of Health and Pharmacy as a clinical pharmacist for Maine Dartmouth Geriatric Medicine in Augusta, Maine. Dr. White is extremely passionate about her work and believes that teaching pharmacy students and serving patients in the community is her calling in life.

Dr. White is a former soccer and basketball player at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and competed on three division championship teams during her collegiate career. She is an avid runner and completed a full marathon in 2015. Dr. White has finished 21 triathlons with her sister. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
