Learning Objectives:

Learners will analyze the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on cardiovascular health. 
•    Learners will analyze their patient’s signs and symptoms and make a successful diagnosis of patients with OSA.
•    Learners will evaluate and grasp how to interpret sleep study results and recognize when to refer patients to a sleep specialist. 
•    
Learners will be better able to identify and manage patients with OSA to improve their patient outcomes.

Alon Avidan, MD, MPH, FAAN, FAASM Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Alon Avidan is a Professor of Neurology at the University of California in Los Angeles, California (UCLA), where he directs the Sleep Disorders Center and serves as Chair of the Faculty Executive Committee for the David Geffen School of Medicine. He completed his medical school training and his residency in Neurology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Avidan then completed his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Avidan was recently awarded and served as Visiting Professor of Neurology Education in the Department of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. He also was selected to receive the 2014 American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) Excellence in Education Award for career contributions to education in sleep medicine. Dr. Avidan has published over 100 manuscripts on sleep disorders. He has co-authored four books: "Handbook of Sleep Medicine," "Geriatric Sleep Medicine," "Review of Sleep Medicine," and "Atlas of Clinical Sleep Medicine." Dr. Avidan is board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), and in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM), and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
