With this presentation, you will review shoulder anatomy and injection techniques. Discuss the various shoulder pathologies and treatment with appropriate injections if needed.

Learning Objectives:
·    
assimilate and understand shoulder pathology and locations corresponding to those areas
·    extrapolate how to treat those corresponding areas when a diagnosis is discovered
·    differentiate the diagnosis to one or multiple areas with more confidence, and recommend appropriate options for treatment

Alan Cornett, DO, joined OSI in 2012 after working in private practice in Midwest City, Okla. He is a graduate of the orthopedic surgery residency program through Kansas City University/St. Mary’s Medical Center, and worked with the surgeons at OSI.

He graduated from medical school at the Oklahoma State University Center of Health Sciences in Tulsa, Okla. His undergraduate work was completed at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He also spent time at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where he played football for the Rangers. He enjoys and is skilled in all aspects of orthopedics, including anterior approach total hip replacements.

Dr. Cornett is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and is an assistant professor of surgery with the Kansas City University.

Athletics have always played an integral role in his life. In high school, he was the quarterback for a state championship football team. In his spare time, he roots for his beloved Sooners, golfs, travels and enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children.

Dr. Orth is a graduate of KCU, and has been in practice 29 years within the Kansas City Metro. He is one of 12 surgeons within Orthopedic Surgeons Inc. (OSI) and practices general orthopedics. He is the Program Director of Orthopaedics with KCU/ HCA Health Care Kansas City. He is active in the orthopaedic surgery community, being a fellow of and serving as the secretary treasurer of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO). He also chairs the Program Director Section of the AOAO, and has served as a member of ACGME Orthopaedic Milestones 2.0 committee.

His practice of general orthopaedic surgery affords him excellent exposure to all areas of this field. He utilizes his skills to teach students, orthopaedic residents, family medicine residents, and family medicine sports medicine fellows how to be comfortable and knowledgeable in this field. It is a pleasure being able to help patients, students, residents and fellows to reach their potential, and continuing to make our profession stronger with knowledge and compassion for others.
