George Hubbell, MD


Dr. George Hubbell was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. He earned a degree in Biology from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Subsequently, he was a research specialist in Horticulture, working in herbicide and plant physiology, ultimately earning a Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He matriculated medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, obtaining a medical degree in 1987. He then completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He is a current member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Hubbell is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Ostetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Hubbell began private practice in the rural community of Osage Beach, Missouri, in 1991, starting Women's Health Consultants of the Ozarks. He practiced there for nearly three decades with a nurse practitioner. His practice emphasized office procedures and minimally invasive pelvic surgery but included all aspects of women's health. Formerly, he was associated with Conceptus, Ethicon Women's Health and Urology, and Hologic as a preceptor, consultant, and national speaker. In his community, Dr. Hubbell served as President of the Lake of the Ozarks Medical Society and was chairman of the Department of Maternal and Child Health at Lake Regional Hospital. He also served in various leadership positions. In 2006, Dr. Hubbell helped found a Free Community Health Clinic in Camdenton, where he regularly volunteers his medical services and currently serves on the board. Additionally, he has served on six international medical mission teams.

In 2006, Dr. Hubbell helped develop a satellite residency program at his local institution, Lake Regional Hospital. Third-year OB/GYN residents rotated through the hospital during their residency training at the University of Missouri-Columbia; Hubbell was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor to coordinate this site with the department of OB/GYN. In the past two decades, he has served as a preceptor for medical students rotating from the Kansas City University medical campus, the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM), and the University of Missouri-Columbia for a rotation in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Hubbell has long been active in the Missouri Section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). He served on the Missouri section advisory council and later as chair, and presently serves as a past chair. Other statewide advocacy duties include serving as Councilor and current President of the Missouri State Medical Association and former President of the Board of Governors at the University of Missouri Medical Alumni Association. He has served on the Pregnancy Associate Maternal Mortality Review Committee (PAMR), affiliated with the Department of Health and Senior Services for the State of Missouri, since 2009. In 2015, he began an appointment with the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU) as the reproductive health consultant on a team advising a four-state region and poison control helpline.

Dr. Hubbell has been married for over four decades to Victoria, a professor and author. He is an empty nester with two adult children, a granddaughter and grandson, two large and demanding dogs, and two cats. In his free time, he enjoys horticulture on his farm, bicycling, golf, and wing shooting.
