Learning Objectives:
1) Learners will identify and be able to utilize these recommendations to provide standardized and globally validated management for patients who present with sepsis, thus improving and reducing the morbidity and mortality
2) Learners will manage the patient in sepsis more effectively by following these established protocols and making it less likely that an essential step is overlooked. Learners will also rely less on their memory and will not need to scramble to locate a reference test to manage the sepsis patient.
3) Learners will follow an established protocol in the management of sepsis by following the bundled assessments and interventions that have been developed by the SSC guidelines.
4) Learners will see a reduction in patient morbidity and mortality by using the protocols established by the 2021 Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC).

Dr. Azhar Assadi is an Internal Medicine Specialist in Kirksville, Missouri. He is the Hospitalist Medical Director in Kirksville, Missouri, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center and in Moberly, Missouri, at the Moberly Regional Medical Center. He is also the Associate Program Director in Internal Medicine at the STILL-OPTI Northeast Regional Medical Center. Dr. Assadi is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Assadi is a graduate of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fort Worth, Texas, in 2017. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at STILL OPTI Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. He enjoys trying new and unfamiliar foods and cooking in his free time.
