Dr. Nauman Ashraf is the Program Director for Ozark Center Psychiatry Residency program in Joplin, Missouri. He has worked at Ozark Center since July 2013 treating patients with mental illness and comorbid substance abuse issues. He also serves as the Medical Director of Addiction Services at Ozark Center and started Ozark Center’s OBOT program in 2017. He graduated from Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences in Pakistan. He completed his psychiatry residency at New York University School of Medicine as well as a Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry. He is board certified in General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He is the recipient of the Harold I. Kaplan Memorial Award for outstanding contributions in the field of psychiatric teaching and education. He has co-authored book chapters and published peer reviewed articles. He serves as a Prescriber Consultant for the SAMSHA STR-TA Consortium to help fight opioid epidemic. He has been invited to multiple regional and media talks on the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder. He has a passion toward improving resident wellness and completed a research project titled the Psychiatry Residency Yoga Training Experiment at Ozark Center. He also served as the PI for KCU- GME Consortium funded project for all residents in the consortium to improve their wellness - 5 Factor Wellness Model.
