This series of presentations will focus on patients' pain and pain management. Each presentation takes a unique look at managing pain. The presentations will touch on medical cannabis, opioids, drug overuse, and treating migraine headaches.

Grievance Policy for AOA Credit:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance. Initially, all grievances should be directed to MAOPS Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee. All grievances will receive an initial written response within 30 days of receipt. If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, they can submit a complaint in writing to the Council on Continuing Medical Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
Dr. Nauman Ashraf is the Program Director for Ozark Center Psychiatry Residency program in Joplin, Missouri. He has worked at Ozark Center since July 2013 treating patients with mental illness and comorbid substance abuse issues. He also serves as the Medical Director of Addiction Services at Ozark Center and started Ozark Center’s OBOT program in 2017. He graduated from Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences in Pakistan. He completed his psychiatry residency at New York University School of Medicine as well as a Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry. He is board certified in General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He is the recipient of the Harold I. Kaplan Memorial Award for outstanding contributions in the field of psychiatric teaching and education. He has co-authored book chapters and published peer reviewed articles. He serves as a Prescriber Consultant for the SAMSHA STR-TA Consortium to help fight opioid epidemic. He has been invited to multiple regional and media talks on the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder. He has a passion toward improving resident wellness and completed a research project titled the Psychiatry Residency Yoga Training Experiment at Ozark Center. He also served as the PI for KCU- GME Consortium funded project for all residents in the consortium to improve their wellness - 5 Factor Wellness Model. Dr. Cooley received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Washburn University, his Doctor of Osteopathy from Kansas City University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and he is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Cooley has served as Program Director for the Addiction Related Services at the Menninger Clinic, Child Psychiatrist for the Wyandot Behavioral Health Center, Medical Director of the Opioid Dependency Treatment Program for the Samuel U Rodgers Health Center, and the supervising physician for the Pain Management Services for the Health Partnership Clinic. He is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Primary Care here at KCU and is the Consulting Psychiatrist for the Kansas University Counseling and Education Support Services. Dr. Marcus Iszard is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Kansas City University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City and Joplin, Missouri. He is also a Consultant and a Licensed Private Drug Investigator. He provides consulting and investigation services for law enforcement agencies and private/corporate law firms for criminal or civil legal matters. Dr. Iszard received his Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmacology/Toxicology) from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. He completed his fellowship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Therapeutics in Kansas City, Kansas.
Dr. Iszard is primarily trained as a pharmacologist and toxicologist. Dr. Iszard has professional experience in drugs, poisons, and medication investigations and forensic consultation. He has over 25 years of comprehensive teaching experience as a veteran professor in pharmacology, toxicology, and therapeutics for clinical, research, and investigation courses for pharmacy, medical, dental, and nursing students. He has over 20 years of investigative and forensic pharmacology/toxicology experience and teaching. He has testimony and legal deposition experience as a certified toxicology expert with state and federal court systems.
Dr. Iszard was awarded the Lawrence Ferring Faculty Award as Teacher of the Year in 2004 at Xavier University of Louisiana, College of Pharmacy, New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also a member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy National Honor Society.
Dr. Iszard is married and has two children. He enjoys ham radio in his spare time.

Dr. Southwell graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2003 and received a doctorate in osteopathic medicine before beginning postgraduate training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He completed a one-year medical internship followed by a three-year general neurology residency. This was followed by a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology, after which he entered private practice for approximately four years. He joined the Neurology faculty at University of Kansas in 2013 and now practices general neurology in the University of Kansas Health System's Spine Center. He is active on the inpatient EMG service for the diagnosis of neuromuscular disease. Although he has had fellowship EMG/EEG training, he enjoys practicing general neurology and treats a wide variety of neurological conditions. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with initial certification in 2008. He is currently Associate Professor of Neurology, and Division Chief of Community Neurology at University of Kansas Department of Neurology. Jordan Stanton, DO is a board eligible psychiatrist who joined the Kansas City Psychiatric Group in July of 2021. She was raised in Michigan and attended Albion College for her pre-medical and undergraduate studies. She completed medical school in Kansas City, Missouri at Kansas City University: College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduation, she completed residency training in psychiatry at the KCU-GME Consortium/Ozark Center program in Joplin, Missouri, where she served as Chief Resident. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. Dr. Stanton treats patients age 12 and older with a wide range of disorders, including but not limited to, depression, bipolar spectrum disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia spectrum disorders and OCD with a particular interest in substance abuse disorders.
