Julie Benard, MD, DABOM, FAAP


Dr. Julie Benard completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. She completed her residency in Child Health at MU Children's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, and then joined the faculty. During her residency, Dr. Benard developed a passion for assessing and treating pediatric obesity and associated concerns. Dr. Benard became board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics in 2015 and then became board certified in Obesity Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2018. She worked previously as the Medical Director of the Tigers on Track clinic, a multidisciplinary clinic that provides comprehensive treatment for pediatric obesity. She also was an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri – Columbia in the Department of Child Health – Division of General Pediatrics. She recently joined the Pediatrics Division at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and is working on expanding pediatrics and pediatric obesity services in southeast Missouri.
