Tameem Yehyawi, MD


Dr. Tameem Yehyawi was born and raised in Keokuk, Iowa. He specializes in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, and he works with the Columbia Orthopaedic Group in Columbia, Missouri. Dr. Yehyawi is board certifed in Orthopedic Sports Medicine by the the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He graduated with honors and was also a captain and All-American linebacker for the football team. He attended medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He then spent the next five years completing his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, which remains one of the most highly ranked programs in the country in orthopedic surgery. He completed his fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California, where he sub-specialized further in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Yehyawi performs surgery, but he also utilizes non-operative techniques to help patients of all ages achieve their goals and return to being active. He has a special interest in treating knee and shoulder injuries, such as ligament and cartilage injuries of the knee, meniscus tears, shoulder instability, and labrum and rotator cuff tears. Dr. Yehyawi feels the most satisfying part of his career is his interaction with his patients each day and helping them find their way back to participating in the activities they enjoy.
