Thomas Miller, DO, MPH


Dr. Thomas Miller is currently an Assistant Professor at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington. He is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Practice. He hails from Montana, where he grew up and earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology at the College of Great Falls (Now the University of Providence) in Great Falls, Montana. He then moved to Michigan, where he graduated with his doctor of osteopathy degree from Michigan State University College Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Miller completed his internship at Mt. Clemens General Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, before beginning his 20-year Air Force career. While in the Air Force, he completed his residency in Family Practice and was the Chief Resident at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a Staff Physician at the Creighton University Family Practice Residency for one year and then was moved by the Air Force. His main occupations in the Air Force were Family Medicine and Flight Medicine, taking him to five continents involving multiple combat tours. In 2003, Dr. Miller earned a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Occupational Medicine from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

After he retired from the Air Force, Dr. Miller worked for U.S. Healthworks in Spokane, Washington doing Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine for ten years until he moved to Kennewick, Washington. While in the Tri-cities, Dr. Miller worked for HPMC Occupational Medical Services, a contractor for the Department of Energy at Hanford. He then accepted an Assistant Professor position at Heritage University. During his five-year tenure at Heritage University in Toppenish, Washington, Dr. Miller taught in the Physician Assistant and Master of Arts in Medical Science programs. During these five years, he also assisted in clinical skills for one day a week at Pacific Northwest University in Yakima, Washington, where he now teaches exclusively for the past academic year.  He is also an ordained Deacon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yakima, Washington.
