Oliver Wisco, DO
Dr. Oliver Wisco has spent much of his medical career in the military, where he has served over 20 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard. He also previously served as a part-time Assistant Professor of Dermatology for Emory University School of Medicine, Tulane University School of Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University, and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Currently, Dr. Wisco is still actively involved in the military and serves as the Commander of the Oregon Air National Guard's Nuclear/Biological/Chemical emergency medical response team.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Wisco has been heavily involved in healthcare improvement initiatives, primarily through the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), the American Medical Association's National Quality Registry Network (NQRN), and the US military. Most significantly, his work guided the development of the AAD's national performance measurement system and data registry (DataDerm) for dermatology. He also served on the AAD's workgroup to develop dermatology's 2018 national guidelines of care for melanoma. While serving on active duty in the Air Force, he piloted a regional teledermatology/education program based on the University of New Mexico's Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes program (Project ECHO). The program was initiated to improve access to care for military medical facilities in the Southeastern region of the United States. This successful pilot program was one of the first dermatology-focused Project ECHO models in the US.
Through his research, performance improvement expertise, informatics background, health systems & policy work, and highly specialized training, Dr. Wisco is dedicated to his patients by providing comprehensive, personalized skincare focusing on health promotion. He has spent the past twenty years refining this expertise, and he is excited to serve the Central and Eastern Oregon communities.
Outside of work, Dr. Wisco can be found mountain biking, running, or skate skiing on one of the mountain trails with his wife and two daughters.
