Julie Flax, MD
Dr. Julia Flax is a seasoned leader in value-based care and population health, having served over two decades as a family physician. As the Chief Population Health Officer at CoxHealth, Dr. Flax spearheads the oversight of value-based payer contracts which have included the Nex-Gen ACO model, Medicare Advantage programs, and risk-based contracts. Her role involves translating the health system's population health strategic vision into action, focusing on ambulatory care management, quality and safety improvement, health equity, and social determinants of health.
Dr. Flax's leadership is evident in her multifaceted roles within the CoxHealth system. She is a member of the CoxHealth Board of Directors and the Cox College Board of Trustees. She also serves as the medical director for the CoxHealth Medicare Advantage plan and is an attending for the CoxHealth Family Medicine Residency Program. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Flax earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering at Stanford University and graduated magna cum laude with Alpha Omega honors from the University of Missouri – School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. She served as chief resident at Halifax Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program.
