Michael Knapp, DO


Dr. Michael Knapp has been an Osteopathic Family Medicine Physician in Joplin, Missouri, for over 40 years. Dr. Knapp is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and in OMM by the American Osteopathic Board of Special Proficiency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He practiced Emergency Medicine for seven years, then opened a private practice in FM/OMM as a sole proprietorship in 1989 and continues to practice to this day. He is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU), now known as A.T. Still University - Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) in Kirksville, Missouri.

Dr. Knapp has been active in teaching osteopathic students and residents as a preceptor for multiple osteopathic colleges, founding the DME of the internship program at Freeman/Oak Hill Hospitals, and being the co-director of their first family medicine residency program. He is an Adjunct Clinical Professor in Family Medicine at Kansas City University – College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM) in Joplin, Missouri. He is also a Clinical preceptor in Family Medicine and OMM with ATSU-KCOM. Dr. Knapp has also been active in organized medicine as an officer and past President of the Missouri affiliate of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, officer and district coordinator of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and member of the MAOPS delegation to the AOA House of Delegates.
